Steve: Hi it’s Steve from ifixappliance.ca, we are going to explain you how to change the Defrost Thermostat on your freezer, easy job, all you are going to need is a Philips screw driver, let me explain you how it’s done. First step in this repair, will be to disconnect the power supply, simply pull the plug, next we’ll want to gain access to the evaporator area, so we’ll have to remove any baskets that are on the bottom, in our middle shelf, simply remove the shelf retainer clips, slide the shelf to the right, lift up and take it out.
Now that we have removed the shelves, and baskets, our next step will be to remove the control knob, simply pulls off, and next we’ll remove all the Philips head screws that hold the evaporator cover on. Now that we’ve removed all the screws holding the evaporator cover on, simply want to lift that cover straight up, and we’ll rest the lower edge on these two shelf brackets, take care of the gaskets on the side they are just push in gasket we don’t want to damage the side walls, now we have the cover sitting securely on top of the brackets, we can remove the wire connections to our Defrost Thermostat, just located to the rear corner here, it’s a clip that holds that thermostat to the tubing, very gently lift that off, and we ready to install our new defrost thermostat.
Slowly position the thermostat in the same location as the old one was, snap it on to that tubing, taking care not to damage the tubing and it is aluminum tubing, so it’s very soft reconnect the wires, make sure they fit snugly, and we are ready to put the evaporator cover in place. Line up the slots, in the evaporator cover to the holes in the cabinet, reinstall all the screws, once we’ve replaced all the screws we want to make sure that our gasket is in place, just to minimize any air leakage, reinstall the control knob, and our shelving and baskets, next we are ready to reinstall our shelving, insert the right hand side first, just tilt it up, line it up, pull it firmly over to the left, snap our shelf retaining clip in place, and reinstall the baskets. And then your repair is complete, that’s just how easy was to change the defrost thermostat on your freezer, thanks for reading, and good luck with your repair.
